The Company Marbres du Boulonnais owes its name to a region called the "Boulonnais", in the north of France, bathed by the Chanel and the North Sea.
Extraction of its marble, 300 million years old, goes back to the 16th century, but it was only three centuries later that the company really got into its stride.
In 1894, Auguste Poulain, a stone and marble merchant, started to operate several small marble quarries.
Very quickly, the volume extracted and transformed increased.
These marbles can be found on many prestigious building sites, in France, and particularly abroad.
Gradually, the choice offered widened to take in new types of marble and stones, either through the purchase of quarries, or by the development of partnerships with quarry operators.
Step by step, Marbres du Boulonnais strengthened its international position, by proposing an extended range of materials and services to the construction and decoration businesses.

Today, the sixth generation of the founding family ownes an industrial group which has diversified into the mineral industry, but still remains faithful to its original occupation :stone.
